Disney’s Hollywood Studios made its worldwide debut on May 1st, 1989 as MGM Studios, the 3rd theme park of the Walt Disney World Resort. Dedicated to film and originally with a fully functioning back lot, Hollywood Studio’s main attractions are centered on some of the most known entertainment entities in all of show business. Although the park has evolved throughout the years, its core principals remain the same.
The most intense attractions created by the Walt Disney Company make their home at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror opened as the park’s anchor attraction in 1994, and has since been reprogrammed to provide an even more intense ride. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster: Starring Aerosmith is Disney’s only inverting roller coaster on the east coast, featuring a state-of-the-art 62 mph launch. Across the park, Star Tours is a high tech 3D attraction that can be experienced more than once. With multiple intergalactic destinations in random sequence, guests encounter the characters of Star Wars on this one-of-a-kind thrill ride.
Hollywood Studios isn’t just for thrill seekers, in fact, the majority of the park is focused on family based experiences. Toy Story Midway Mania is the most popular attraction at the park and often requires a Fastpass+ reservation. Fantasmic!, the nightly fireworks spectacular features live action, water screen projections and pyrotechnic displays. The bread and butter of Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park isn’t an attraction, rather the street entertainment that guests will find walking the streets of the theme park. This one-of-a-kind environment is what sets this theme park above the rest.
