Epcot opened to the world on October 1st, 1982. Standing for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, EPCOT’s original design was that of a community sitting at the center of the Walt Disney World Resort. Today, EPCOT celebrates looking forward into the future, while respecting the past and present coexistence of cultures throughout the world. The theme park is designed in two distinct areas, Futureworld and the World Showcase.

Epcot’s iconic geosphere is the center of Futureworld and home to Spaceship Earth, a slow-motion family attraction through the history of time. Futureworld’s 3 iconic attractions are some of the most popular in all of Walt Disney World, and often require Fastpass+ reservations. Test Track is Disney’s fastest attraction ever created, allowing guests the opportunity to design and test a vehicle from the future on a mile long ‘sim track’. Soarin’, located in The Land Pavilion, takes guests on a simulated hang gliding flight over the rugged terrain of California. Mission: SPACE is noted as being the most physically demanding attraction built by Disney. This interactive test flight takes guests on a journey to Mars, where they’ll experience moments of weightlessness and sustained g forces.

The World Showcase Lagoon may lack an abundance of theme park attractions, but makes up for it with its world famous restaurants and arguably the best theme park fireworks display in the World. Illuminations: Reflections of Earth is a 12 minute celebration of life, centered around the World Showcase Lagoon, featuring low-altitude fireworks, blazing infernos, and inspirational music.
